Crispy Rice Patties - Unlock the Crunchy Delight!
The crispy rice sushi waffles are made using a waffle iron, resulting in a golden, crunchy exterior that beautifully complements the layers of delicious ingredients inside. It's a culinary adventure you won't want to miss!
Layering the Goodness in Your Sushi Waffle
Once you have your crispy rice waffles ready, it's time to layer them with a delicious medley of ingredients:

The first layer is a creamy & tangy avocado & ginger mash. This layer not only adds a velvety texture but also adds a burst of flavor that pairs perfectly with the crispy rice.

The next layer is carrot shavings. Carrots provide a refreshing crunch & vibrant color to the sushi waffle. You could also add thin cucumber shavings here.

For a touch of heat & spice, drizzle a bit of chili oil over the carrot shavings. The chili oil will infuse the sushi waffle with a subtle kick that enhances the overall flavor profile.

Personalize Your Sushi Waffle - Add Fish or Go Veggie!
One of the great things about crispy rice sushi waffles is their versatility. You can easily customize them to suit your taste preferences & dietary restrictions. If you're a seafood lover, for example, add your favorite fish to the sushi waffle. However, I recommend adding the fish after the waffle has been cooked, to prevent the fish from cooking. This way, the fish retains its freshness & texture.
For those following a vegetarian or vegan diet, there are plenty of options to explore. Marinated tofu can be a delicious and protein-packed substitute for fish. Thinly sliced cucumber can also be added to the sushi waffle, offering a refreshing and cooling element to balance the other flavors.

Two Sauce Recipes to Elevate Your Sushi Waffle!

First up, we have Spicy Sriracha Mayo. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, Sriracha sauce, and a squeeze of fresh lime juice. Adjust the spice level to your preference by adding more or less Sriracha. Mix well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined. The result is a creamy & fiery sauce that will give your sushi waffle a spicy kick.

Next, we have a Creamy Wasabi Sauce. In a bowl, mix together mayonnaise, wasabi paste, a splash of soy sauce, and a pinch of sugar. Taste & adjust the amount of wasabi to achieve your desired level of spiciness. This creamy sauce is a cooling alternative to the heat of the Sriracha Mayo and adds a zingy kick to your sushi waffles.
These two sauces can be served alongside your crispy rice sushi waffles, allowing you to dip each bite into a flavor explosion of your choosing. Feel free to adjust the quantities & spice levels according to your taste preferences.
