Sushi has always been a beloved culinary delight, but today we're putting a fun twist on traditional sushi and making crispy rice sushi waffles. These delightful sushi waffles will take your sushi game to a whole new level!
The crispy rice sushi waffles are made using a waffle iron, resulting in a golden, crunchy exterior that beautifully complements the layers of delicious ingredients inside. It's a culinary adventure you won't want to miss!
The first layer is a creamy & tangy avocado & ginger mash. This layer not only adds a velvety texture but also adds a burst of flavor that pairs perfectly with the crispy rice.
The next layer is carrot shavings. Carrots provide a refreshing crunch & vibrant color to the sushi waffle. You could also add thin cucumber shavings here.
For a touch of heat & spice, drizzle a bit of chili oil over the carrot shavings. The chili oil will infuse the sushi waffle with a subtle kick that enhances the overall flavor profile.
To start your crispy rice sushi waffles, cook the sushi rice according to the package instructions. Preheat your waffle iron to medium, and lightly grease it to prevent sticking. Place 1 ½ cups of the rice into the iron and spread it evenly.
Mash ripe avocados with grated ginger, salt, & pepper until you achieve a smooth & spreadable consistency. Spread an even layer onto the rice.
Next, add a handful of carrot shavings on top of the avocado & ginger layer. You can use a peeler or a slicer to create thin shavings.
Drizzle as much chili crunch oil onto the other fillings as you would like.
Then, add the rest of the rice in order to cover all of the other fillings. Sprinkle some sesame seeds on top & close the waffle iron.
Cook for up to 10 minutes, or until the rice is golden brown & crispy. Serve with seaweed, crunchy onions, & dipping sauce of your choice.
