The Perfect Fusion of Flavors: Spicy Italian Sausage and Turkey Meatballs
Okay, so let's talk about this perfect flavor profile. We've got turkey, which is all lean and lovely, cozying up with spicy Italian sausage that's like a flavor bomb waiting to go off. The result? A combo that's going to make your taste buds so happy!
Grab a bowl and throw in ground turkey, ground spicy Italian sausage, Italian seasoning, an egg, mozzarella cheese, parsley, salt, pepper, and a few fresh garlic cloves. Mix it all up, shape into meatballs, and voilà! It's that easy!
The Irresistible Sun-Dried Tomato Sauce
This sauce takes your easy turkey meatballs to an entirely new level of deliciousness. It's a velvety concoction that's equal parts comforting and flavorful, with each ingredient playing a crucial role in this sauce. Hover over the images to find out how all these delicious ingredients work together:
We start with the aromatic duo of garlic and onion, sautéing them until they release their fragrant magic. Then, we introduce the real game-changers. First up, sun-dried tomatoes – these little pockets of intensified sweetness add a burst of sunshine to every spoonful. But we're not stopping there! Toss in the remnants of the meatballs that are cooked to perfection, infusing the sauce with all those caramelized, savory bits for an absolute treasure trove of flavor.
To balance the richness, we bring in vegetable broth and a splash of heavy cream. But here's the twist: kale! It not only adds a pop of vibrant color, but also a hint of earthy goodness that complements the meatballs like a dream.
And of course, we can't forget the grand finale – a generous shower of grated parmesan. This cheese is like the magical fairy dust that ties all the flavors together, creating a sauce that's creamy, hearty, and utterly unforgettable. When you pour this sauce over those delectable turkey and spicy Italian sausage meatballs, it's like a flavor explosion that dances on your palate!
Bringing It All Together: Plating and Serving
It's time to plate up this masterpiece. Arrange those drool-worthy meatballs on a bed of pasta, zucchini noodles, or, my favorite, white rice. Add a sprinkle of parsley or cilantro, and you are all set to enjoy this delicious meal!
How To Make This Easy Turkey Meatball Recipe: Step-By-Step Guide
ingredients:
- Ground turkey
- Ground spicy Italian sausage
- Kale of your choice
- Parsley
- Yellow onion
- Garlic cloves
- Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper
- Red chili flakes
- Chicken bullion cube
- Sun-dried tomatoes (Julienne cut)
- Vegetable broth
- Heavy whipping cream
- Salted butter
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
- Grated parmesan
Start by heating up a large pan on medium heat. In a bowl, mix together the meats, garlic cloves, Italian seasoning, red chili flakes, pepper, a chicken boullion cube, parsley, and mozzarella cheese.
Once everything is mixed together, use your hands to form the meat mixture into meatballs. You want each meatball to be 1 ½ inches.
Melt 2 tbsp. of the butter in the large pan, and then place the meatballs in the pan. Cook until there is no pink left in the middle and the meatballs are golden brown, about 8–10 minutes on all sides. Once they are cooked, set them aside on a clean plate.
In the same large pan that the meatballs were cooked in, melt the remaining butter and add the remaining garlic. Cook until the garlic is fragrant. Then add the onion and cook until it is translucent.
Next, add the sun-dried tomatoes, vegetable broth, and heavy cream to the pot. Using a spatula, preferably a wooden one, scrape the bottom of the pan to get all of the remains left from cooking the meatballs and mix it into the sauce.
Season with salt and pepper, and stir. Add in the kale and bring to a simmer. Make sure that the kale is fully cooked in the sauce, about 5-10 minutes.
Add the parmesan to the sauce and mix until it is melted. Lastly, add the meatballs back into the sauce to rewarm them. Serve over pasta, rice, or alone, and enjoy!
