Perfectly Boiled Eggs: The First Step in Making The Perfect Eggs

The first step in making deviled eggs is to boil the eggs. While some people may argue over how long to boil them, it's important to consider the size of the eggs.

Large eggs typically need to be boiled for around 10-12 minutes, while extra-large eggs may need 14-16 minutes. To ensure that the eggs cook evenly, it's best to place them in cold water and then bring the water to a boil. Once they're boiled, place the eggs in an ice bath to stop the cooking process and make them easier to peel.

Stove-top hard-boiled eggs are delicious but take too much time, so I learned how to make air fryer hard-boiled eggs & now I'm showing you!

Customizing Your Filling: Endless Variations to Try

The next step is to prepare the filling for your eggs. This is where it gets fun! While the classic filling consists of mayonnaise, mustard, and vinegar or lemon juice, there are endless variations to try. To make your filling unique, try adding different herbs, spices, or even bacon to the mix.

Here are some of my favorite unique egg fillings:

    Chips and Guac Deviled Eggs

    Chips and Guac Deviled Eggs

Change up your appetizer menu with these nutritous avocado deviled eggs. Even the pickiest of guests will love this Chips and Guac Deviled Eggs Recipe.

    Spicy Deviled Eggs

    Spicy Deviled Eggs

Spicy deviled eggs with candied bacon have a creamy filling and are topped with a sprinkle of chives, and a drizzle of sriracha! It's the perfect amount of heat mixed with a bit sweetness for a deliciously balanced take on a classic appetizer. Save this spicy twist for your next party for a fun take on traditional deviled eggs!

    Kimchi Deviled Eggs Recipe

With a nice crunch from the bacon garnish, these unique Kimchi Deviled Eggs are creamy and tangy.

Filling Techniques: Spoon vs Piping Bag and Chunky vs Smooth

Once the filling is prepared, it's time to fill the egg whites. Some people prefer to use a piping bag to create a polished look, while others simply use a spoon.

Chunky vs Smooth is all personal preference. If you like smooth filling make sure to stay away from ingredients that are larger in size. To add some texture, consider adding chopped bacon or even relish to the filling.

This recipe for has a chunky filling due to the jalapeños, so I like to use a miniature ice cream scoop to add the filling back into the eggs.

Presentation is Key: Creative Garnishes and Serving Ideas for Deviled Eggs

The final step is to garnish and serve! You can keep it simple with a sprinkle of paprika or chives, or get creative with toppings like fresh herbs or crumbled bacon. To make your presentation even more unique, try arranging the eggs in a circular pattern on a platter or serving them in individual egg cups.

Hand placing a slice of cheese in a nonstick pan

One of my favorite parts about this recipe is the crispy cheese garnish!

This is done simply by placing a slice of cheese into a nonstick pan on medium high until the cheese is golden! Flip & wait until other side is golden as well.

    Leftover Filling?

Honestly, leftover egg filling is one of my favorite parts of making these eggs. There are just so many things you can do with it!
